About

The Melbourne Taekwondo Centre is proud to be a founding Taekwondo club in Australia. Established in 1963, we are home to Australia’s only two World Sports Taekwondo Champions, Stephen Currie and Carmen Marton. Today, with over 16 branches state-wide, we are excited to introduce you to Taekwondo.

Taekwondo originates from Korea and is their national sport. Traditionally, Taekwondo was developed as a martial art to defend Korea from invaders. Today, our club has brought Taekwondo into the modern world. All our programs, from beginner classes to our Olympic pathway, teach the skills of Taekwondo utilising evidence based educational and child development frameworks.

All students who join Melbourne Taekwondo Centre are welcomed with respect and supported in their individual and group learning process toward earning their black belt and beyond. Students are trained by long term and highly experienced Taekwondo practitioners who have trained and competed in Taekwondo internationally. The Head instructors have additional qualifications in education, teaching and social work.

Students learn the beneficial skills of the martial art of Taekwondo which also includes self-defence, personal discipline and focus. Additionally, students learn about themselves, overcoming their sense of limitations, recognising their strengths and develop an attitude that they can do more than they thought possible.

Students and parents are always encouraged to discuss their progress and any personal circumstances with the instructors so to ensure teachers can support students in the best possible way.

We look forward to welcoming you to Melbourne Taekwondo Centre Malvern.
